Section Engineer

Balfour Beatty Vinci has an exciting opportunity for a Section Engineer with Heavy Civils and Structure experience to join our team and work at our HS2 site in Central Birmingham.
Role Purpose:
To lead and control a section of major works within Major Structures, Viaducts, Heavy Civils, Excavations etc management of a team of Site Engineers.
- Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Suggests and implements improvements to systems
- Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity, including managing others in this regard.
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights.
- Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility..
- Ensure the Inspection and Test Plans, and Quality Check Sheets are completed as soon as the checks can be completed to ensure that the works are delivered to specification.
- In association with the Section Foreman, assess the plant and resource requirements to meet the demands of site and office based works.
- Produce / Approve method statements and risk assessments and ensure they are being followed throughout the works.
- Carry out checks of the scheme during construction on site, liaising with the TWC and Site Team.
- Preparing and issuing Temporary Works Briefs to the relevant design departments.
- Ensure Site Engineers complete setting out in accordance with design.
- Ensure Design Drawings are marked up to reflect works completed as the works are finished.
Who we're looking for:
- Degree qualified in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable
- Previous supervisory or management experience is essential
- Experience working as a Sub Agent on a large civil engineering scheme
