We are delighted to represent our client, a global engineering and design company, in their search for a Production and Purchasing Coordinator.

This exciting role involves supporting the Engineering Buyer by efficiently planning and managing production jobs to ensure timely delivery to customers. Additionally, the position will assist with purchasing tasks as needed, including the creation and expediting of purchase orders.

This is a dynamic position ideal for a recent school leaver or graduate eager to launch a career in purchasing or production, or for someone already experienced in this field. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of purchasing and production while managing essential daily tasks.

Responsibilities:

Production (70%)

  • Generate BOM’s and manufacturing process plans for production and project jobs utilising the companies M1 ERP system
  • Produce production job packs and issue to the workshop. Job packs will as a minimum include picking lists, job travellers, specification sheets, engineering drawings and any special instructions.
  • Assist with planning/scheduling production work to ensure efficient resource utilisation and on time delivery to the customer, covering for the production control supervisor as required
  • Monitor forward workload and assist in managing capacity and labour resource accordingly
  • Assist with managing the daily production work load through the workshop and covering for the production control supervisor as required
  • Prior to despatch compile all relevant delivery documentation including test certificates, certificate of conformity and instruction manuals
  • Assist the production control supervisor in ensuring on time delivery to customer due dates
  • Ensure company job folders are correctly actioned and signed off for production/purchasing at the appropriate stages as required
  • Action any required engineering changes updating M1 and any current production as required
  • Assist in the coordination of stock takes
  • Provide lead time estimates to sales for quotation purposes

Purchasing (30%)

Utilising the companies D365 ERP system review purchasing requirements to ensure stock is controlled efficiently to cover existing and expected future requirements

Raise production and miscellaneous purchase orders on the M1 system as required and issue to the supplier ensuring order acknowledgement is received to the required delivery dates.

Expedite outstanding purchase orders in order to ensure delivery due dates are achieved

Monitor supplier delivery and quality performance providing feedback to the supplier and where necessary take up any required remedial action with them

Seek supplier quotations for new work and provide detailed costings as required

Assist in driving down cost through creative purchasing strategy and seeking competitive quotes

Action any required engineering changes that affect purchasing

General

Liaise with other departments such as engineering, sales and finance as required

Contribute to monthly business review reports as requiredWork to company procedures and the requirements of the ISO9001 quality management system

Adhere to company Health & Safety and Environmental policy

Specific short term objectives

Learn the company production control and purchasing processes and procedures

Gain an understanding of the company’s product range and associated manufacturing processes

Requirements

A good level of IT skills including experience with Microsoft Excel and Word

Experience with ERP/MRP advantageous

A methodical and detailed work ethic

Flexibility and a willingness to ‘muck in’ with any other required projects to meet the needs of the business

To be located within a reasonable commuting distance of the KLAW Westbury facility

To be willing to travel to other group companies and suppliers as and when required
