Position Title: Thermo Fluids Engineer - 39336

Position Description:

You will be a member of a dedicated team responsible for the operation of a key laboratory equipment ensuring the thermal energy management systems of our products are fully developed and efficient, therefore maximising energy deployed predominantly for drivable range. You will take care of the facility, maintaining at full working order to ensure effective operation uptime. In conjunction with the system engineering teams you will conduct critical development tests through the operation of the laboratory facility providing data in support of, and associate to engineering targets, you will be part of a team that will be pivotal in the development of product and further specification of the laboratory including investment planned in the coming years.

We will provide familiarisation of equipment and local training with the intention to develop you personally in Thermo fluids knowledge/ disciplines, supporting the wider project teams. The current operation of the Climatic Laboratory is on a 2-shift double-day pattern. This role operates on a days initially but is expected to transition to shift working in late 2023, you will be working under the lead engineer for the laboratory and therefore interfacing regularly with your local test team and customer groups.

Skills Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of thermo fluids
  • Advanced knowledge of Hardware and Software in the loop testing
  • Vehicle engineering

Experience Required:

  • Good understanding of electronic system simulation
  • Be familiar with system simulation techniques to ensure integration of vehicle systems in a rig environment, experience in dSPACE, NI or Ipotronic systems would be an advantage.
  • Reasonable knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics
  • Knowledge of calibration and instrumentation.
  • Ability to evaluate the system failure modes, help to define further investigative methods to refine understanding/consult on and define resolutions
  • System engineering electronic knowledge including simulation of control parameters
  • Planning and project management skills and experience.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team player always, demonstrating a professional and courteous attitude
  • Good time management skills.

Experience Preferred:

  • Level 4 / HNC or Bachelor’s degree in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Prior involvement with laboratory environment.
  • Ability to communicate and influence at operational level
