An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join this leader in photonics engineering and manufacturing solutions for industrial, telecoms, aerospace, defence, space and life sciences, based in Torquay.

The position of Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of the Fiber Optics Component and Systems team, taking products from concept through to production.

You will use your experience and knowledge to shape the product. The ideal candidate will be conscientious, innovative and have experience of new product introduction.

Requirements of the Torquay based Mechanical Design Engineer

  • A Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Proficient user of SolidWorks software including Jigs and fixtures
  • Experience with full design lifecycle and New Product Introduction (NPI) of electro-mechanical products
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, such as injection moulding, CNC machining and 3D printing
  • Confident liaising with customers
  • Able to work to Budgets and BS standards
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools would be a benefit but is not essential
