Construction Manager – Contract – Wales

Location: West Wales

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading engineering business during a period of continued growth as they support the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and Renewable Energy sectors. Previous experience supporting major energy projects is essential.

This role is outside IR35.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the construction execution strategy and plans.
  • Managing the EPC Contractor during construction phase.
  • Ensure that construction management is integrated into the planning, scheduling, cost tracking, construction, installation, testing and acceptance activities for project.
  • Ensuring construction by contractor is as per agreed plans.
  • Lead the development of contract scopes of works and contractor evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, schedules and budgets.
  • Responsible for esnuring safety on construction sites and compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Reviewing the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
  • Ensure that issues relating to HSE are effectively managed, in line with the clients’ policies and procedures.
  • Review contracts regarding project execution to ensure compliance.
  • Feedback on electrical, mechanical, protection, and civil construction standards.
  • Maintain and developing relationships with key stakeholders on projects.
  • Coordinating field inspection and sign-offs for.
  • Analyze, manage and mitigate risks to the successful completion of construction activities.

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Ideally degree qualified (Construction or Engineering or related discipline).
  • Chartered status desirable but not essential.
  • Prior experience in construction management of complex process plant projects is essential.
  • Working knowledge across a broad range, civil, structural, mechanical and E&I works.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in collaborating with various stakeholders in a team environment.
  • Planning and organising, communication, team working and problem solving.
  • Good level of numeracy, literacy and IT knowledge.

Additional Information

Duration c.2 years, the rate is to include all costs associated. The role is outside IR35.
