Overview:

Join our team as a Service Engineer, responsible for maintaining planned maintenance, addressing reactive and remedial calls, all while adhering to British Standards and current legislation. Effective communication with customers, promoting company values, and upholding professionalism are key aspects of this role.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with and report to your manager to establish business objectives and review performance indicators.

- Efficiently complete assigned tasks in accordance with company policies.

- Manage van stock to optimise first-time fix rates on approved jobs.

- Attend company-identified training sessions and suggest additional training as needed.

- Maintain thorough documentation in line with company standards.

- Be available for occasional overtime to ensure customer satisfaction.

- Identify non-conformances during service visits and provide recommendations for improvement.

- Respond to emergency calls promptly and effectively.

- Occasionally supervise junior engineers on site and provide support to colleagues as required.

Key Competencies:

- Extensive experience in service-related activities within Fire, Security, and associated disciplines.

- A methodical approach to problem-solving.

- Strong attention to detail and error identification skills.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

- Professional interpersonal skills for interaction with staff, clients, and suppliers.

Experience:

- Demonstrated industry experience with a proven track record of competence.

- Familiarity with British Standards such as BS5839, SP203, SSAIB.

- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high levels of customer service.

- Proficiency in both independent work and collaborative team environments.

Standard Working Hours:

- Monday to Friday: 08:30 - 17:00

Overtime Compensation:

- Monday to Friday: 17:00 - 00:00 Paid at Time & Half

- Monday to Friday: 00:00 – 08:30 Paid at Double Time

- Saturday: Time and a Half until midday, Double Time thereafter

- Sunday: Double Time

- Bank Holidays on call: Double Time and a day back in lieu

- Travel time during overtime is compensated at a single rate

Travel Policy:

- First 30 minutes each way unpaid, flat rate paid as overtime thereafter

On-Call Schedule:

- Standby Fee: £20 per shift

- Door-to-door travel reimbursement for on-call participation

- Rest Time in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines

Equipment Provision:

- Fuel Card: Private mileage charged at 18p per mile for the first 100 miles, 28p per mile thereafter

- Company Phone: Provided for work purposes exclusively

- Uniform and PPE: All provided

- Tools: Specialist testing equipment supplied (Basic hand tools not provided)

Holiday Entitlement:

- 22 Days holiday pro rata from January to December plus statutory bank holidays

- Additional day added each year for the first 5 years of employment, totalling 30 days excluding bank holidays once 10 years’ service is reached

Background Checks:

- Enhanced DBS check required, any convictions must be declared prior to commencement

Driving Requirements:

- Full manual driving licence required with declaration of any points/convictions

Qualification Certificates:

- Copies of all relevant certificates must be provided for the role undertaken
