Job Specification: Centre Lather Turner (setter , operator)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated centre lathe turner to run an XYZ proturn semi cnc centre lathe.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated and experienced centre lather turner with a strong commitment to quality and efficiency. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role, in delivering high-quality aerospace and advanced engineering components and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Duties: Manual Turner
- Set up and operate centre lathes to machine metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for each machining operation.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, such as cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using precision instruments to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Make necessary adjustments to machine settings to maintain product quality and accuracy.
- Monitor machine operations and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the machining process.
- Work with the production team to prioritise and complete work orders within established timelines.
- Maintain a safe and organised work environment, following all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Document machining processes and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve machining processes and optimise efficiency
Qualifications and Skills: Manual Turner
- GSE grades in mathematics or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience as a Centre Lathe Operator within a manufacturing or machining setting. •Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) with a keen ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Exceptional mechanical acumen coupled with a comprehensive understanding of metalworking principles.
- Thorough knowledge of cutting tools, materials, and various machining techniques.
- Skilled in conducting precise measurements using an array of precision instruments such as micrometres, callipers, and gauges.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations for data entry and machine control.
- Proven track record of problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork.

Hours of work: Shift Early or late
Early shift Monday to Thursday- 6 am to 2.15 pm
Late Shift Monday to Thursday -2 pm to 12.00 pm incurs premium
Over time rates available
